  3.      AMOK is going to be a 100 disks, a reason to make some changes.
  4. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  6. Here's an overview about the changes from AMOK #101 on upwards:

  9. * AMOK is going to be more international.  Therefore all submissions should
  10.   also include english documentation. Submissions  including  only  english
  11.   documentation are welcome, too.
  12.  
  13.   The reason therefore is that we are now able to distribute AMOK into  the
  14.   AmiNet. There we can better promote Oberon and Modula  and  are  able  to
  15.   present it to a broader audience. AmiNet is all english.
  16.  
  17.   Therefore exist these files now in english and  german,  e.g.  there  are
  18.   the files "Inhalt" and "Contents" containing the same information.
  19.  
  20.   The latest AMOK-Disks  are  already  available  via  anonymous  ftp  from
  21.   ftp.uni-stuttgart.de.

  24. * The disks are compiled using the FastFileSystem.
  25.  
  26.   AmigaDos 2.0 is now widely recognized as the minimum OS  version,  so  we
  27.   use this feature to pack more data on a disk.

  30. * Submissions  without  ".product-info"  don't  have  much  chances  to  be
  31.   published on the AMOK disks.

  33.   It is quite a lot of work to create a contents file for a whole disk,  if
  34.   you have to look for all sorts  of  information,  e.g.  name  of  author,
  35.   compiler (Oberon, Modula), usage und version of the  program,  which  are
  36.   spread over different files (*.doc, *.mod, *.readme...).

  38.   This is too much work for us and the data can  be  provided  much  easier
  39.   (more exact, faster) by the author.

  41.   We have decided to use the .product-info format by Fred  Fish.  This  has
  42.   many advantages:

  44.   - just ONE description for AMOK and Fish
  45.   - KingFisher is able to handle AMOK disks
  46.   - we can create the contents files automatically
  47.  
  48.   A description of the file format is on disk  (file  'Product-Info.Spec').
  49.   You should use english for description, but any other language is  better
  50.   than nothing.

  52.   The  format must be used as it is,  but there are some changes from draft
  53.   #6 by Fred Fish:

  55.   --> .reference is not optional for AMOK files. It must be supplied if
  56.       there exists an earlier version in order to create a link to that
  57.       version.

  75.       This schould contain the description in german language.  This  field
  76.       is used to generate the file 'Inhalt'.
